to copy the design of the $20 Saint-Gaudens gold coin for
the obverse of its new Gold American Eagle coin. The $20 Saint-Gaudens

until 1933. It was designed to evoke awe like the ancient
Greek and Roman coins.
The design on the reverse of the Gold Eagle (pictured below,
left) captures a bald eagle swooping into a nest holding its
family, symbolizing many classic American concepts. The Miley
Busiek design is surrounded by other information, including
the amount of gold, its purity, and the stated face value
of the US Eagle.
